HYPE + Degrafa Experiments

Here's an example of getting a little more complex with Degrafa and HYPE. I'm using Degrafa Path with SVG Path data and some transforms, fills and strokes via Degrafa. Using the SVG path data is nice because I can alter all the artwork within code view and never have to import artwork or hop to the Stage to edit artwork.

I got the artwork from Vecteezy.com, brought it into Illustrator, saved it as an SVG and then grabbed the path data. From HYPE I used the ShapeLayout and ObjectPool primarily.

There's an infinite number of things that can be done with just this little example by tweaking variables, adding in other Degrafa objects, changing colors or just grabbing new path data. Fun stuff!

Special thanks to @andymcintosh for lending me a hand with this experiment.

Side Project: The New Slant

As if I needed another side project, I've started a blog/aggregator called "The New Slant". So, what the hell does that mean? Well, in a sentence:

"The New Slant is a blog that aggregates ideas people have put out there in an effort to change things that have already been done."

For example, what would a redesign of Facebook look like? What would a keyboard look like given the new technologies that exist today? What would a car dashboard look like with a focus on the environment? Etc., etc.

To be clear, I'm not the one coming up with these ideas, I'm just aggregating them because it's something I'm interested in and couldn't find a site out there that had what I was looking for. I already have a number of things up there already with a bunch of other bookmarks I have to go through and post.

If you're interested, you can go to http://thenewslant.com or follow the blog on Twitter at http://twitter.com/TheNewSlant. You can also submit stuff you think would fit on the site at http://thenewslant.com/submit/

Enjoy!
